One of my oldest friends met me for an evening shoot.
I love summerfall evenings :)

On my drive home from work last night, I just couldn’t pass up capturing at least a few images of the glorious sunset. The sky was lit up in every colour – blues, reds, oranges, yellows… it was like a giant wave of fire. I’m still amazed at what my camera captured… talk about being in the right place and the most excellent time. Just before the Thanksgiving weekend, another friend of mine contacted me about getting portraits of him rowing down at the KW Rowing Club. Happily I agreed! I’m always interested in different environments and opportunities, however simple or extravagant :-) We had previously tried to get together for a quick shoot, however, the rain came down just as I was setting up. It came out of nowhere! So, a few days later we managed to meet up again at the club and take advantage of the gorgeous weather, clear skies, and blazing sunshine. At first I thought the photos would be write-offs because of the glaring sun (and I’d forgotten my polarizer, grr!) However – there were gems among the batch I snapped. Woo! The only unfortunate thing that did happen, was he fell out (off?) of the boat, and for the first time in the few years he’s been rowing. Oh how embarrassing! But he was in good spirits, so I keep clicking away :-) You can view more of this shoot on my Flickr page. I don’t like to complain, but “UGH!” is all I can think to say when I saw my photo in the newspaper this morning. What do you think? *the photo will only appear on the Record’s website today, and then you have to click on the archives to see it later. :-) Last weekend we camped up at Lake Belwood. The Friday evening sunset was something of absolute beauty, and I was thankful to have purchased the 81A filter just in time. On another note, I’m thinking about store ideas. As you can see on the right hand side I’ve got one photo up on Etsy for sale. Do many of you use Etsy or shop there? I love the fact that Etsy is a handmade store… somewhere to support other crafters and artists. If I decide to stay with Etsy then you’ll see more photos show up on the widget. If not, I’ll create my own little store with PayPal through the waterstonephoto.com website for sure. Thanks in advance for your input! |
