Thomas at the park

I walked down to the park with a good friend of mine and her son Thomas.

Cuteness. Thomas is a really content & happy baby, and his eyes are going to melt many hearts when he’s older!
No, wait – they already are! :)

Free Portraits & Happy Smiles

Over the weekend I had a chance to finally meet one of my longtime online-only friends! It just so happened (and I’m not kidding, it really did just “happen”!) that she won my first ever portrait session giveaway!

I made the hour-long drive to meet with Kathleen and her daughters… and despite the down pour of rain, I think we had a pretty good time out there!

How adorable are they?!

Maternity – Joanne & Andy

On one of the nicer days this summer, I met up with Andy & Joanne at Woodside Park in Kitchener where they had also had their wedding photos taken just two years earlier. (Happy Anniversary you guys!!)

I’ve known Joanne & Andy for about four years, where I work. They got engaged around the same time as me, and got married about a month apart! We even bought houses in the same neighbourhood, and through conversation we’ve discovered that Andy & I even grew up in the same neighbourhood on the other side of Kitchener. Talk about a small world!

Now the only thing we’re not doing the same is having babies! Joanne & Andy are anxiously awaiting the arrival of “him” or “her” – it’s been a secret this whole time! What a pleasant surprise it will be when Baby finally arrives.

I had the honour of taking their portraits with Joanne’s round baby belly. It was my very first maternity session, so let’s take a look!

Well, it’s no secret anymore! Joanne gave birth to a beautiful boy before I had a chance to post this blog entry! :-)

Gallery on the Grand

On Wednesday, April 8th there was a gathering at the Gallery on the Grand, a gorgeous art gallery in Kitchener. The gala was an event to raise further awareness regarding Kiwanis Park, a park that our very own city has decided should be turned into more houses. What!!! About 100 people showed up in support to save the park.
For more information, visit the dedicated site: savekiwanispark.ca
and PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION! :-)

Catherine Drown spoke to the crowd. Here she is with Mr A.R. Kaufman.

A fellow Twitter & photography friend Jenn also captured a photo of me standing with my photo on display:

Where’s the cheese?

A couple weekends ago (the same weekend with my neck injury!) I had a photoshoot with a lovely mother & daughter! Here is one of the first photos I took, and I thought I’d share it. I have to admit it was my first time photographing a toddler as my main subject, and it was difficult! She was a sweetheart but still difficult! I thought it was funny though, and you’ll see it in the photos I upload later on – whenever she would say “cheese”, she would say it, smile, and look away from me! LOL It was cute. At first I thought she was being shy but apparently not! I guess I have to learn a bit more about working with kids :-) (Do you have any tips? Much appreciated!)
The weather was perfect for this shoot! And not many people at the park either, which made it simple to avoid getting strangers in the background. The only unfortunate thing was the pain in my neck! Thankfully, they were both understanding. And they’re looking forward to seeing the photo results! :-)
