It’s always, always a good day when I get to a nursery!
Mum wanted to shop for a few plants and flowers to spruce up their gardens around the house, and invited me along. What a bright sunny afternoon in the greenhouse. It was HOT.
I wasn’t planning on taking many photos, maybe just one or two since this visit was impromptu. But I just couldn’t help it. The colours, textures and compositions were presenting themselves to me every time I turned around.
In my bag I had only my 50mm f/1.8. It was all I needed to capture these images. Best lens* ever, baby.

*Best is 1.4, which unfortunately I don’t have, so this is the best lens I currently own. :)
If you haven’t met Elizabeth Gordon, you are missing out!
She is a warm, kind, honest, loyal, friendly person. I could keep listing characteristics of her, but hopefully you have the idea already that she is just awesome.
Elizabeth is a jazz artist based in Guelph, Ontario. She has an amazing voice that to me sounds cool, calm and collected – just like she is. She is a one-woman show but also plays with the band Vertical Skyline from Kitchener, Ontario.
I was invited to take photos as well as hear her performance at Manhattan’s Bistro in Guelph back in June 2008. It was a great show!

Elizabeth with just a few of her fans!

A good friend of mine whom I met in college, invited me out to her house in Guelph, ON to snap some portraits of her and her son… whom I haven’t seen since he was just a few months old! Hard to believe how fast time flies.

We met up and headed out to Riverside Park where there are giant trees along the Speed River. Absolutely gorgeous and peaceful parkland! Little guy Ty decided to beeline straight for the river’s edge a few time, which kept both of us on our toes! It only takes a split second for a two-and-a-half year old to get into something he shouldn’t – seriously! Thankfully, we made it through the day without injury :-)
After the park, and after picking up a couple iced cappucinos from Tim Horton’s, we were off to the courthouse courtyard.
such.a.beautiful.place!! I haven’t been to the courthouse since I worked in Guelph… and I remember clearly that there was a bunny sitting in the grass just munching away, and there were birds singing… ahhh
Today was no different, four years later. While composing a few shots of the lovely Randi, I couldn’t help but notice a chipmunk run by. Hehe :-)
All in all, we had a great day! The weather was cooperative and not as stifling hot as it had been in the days before.
Thanks Randi & Ty for the opportunity for me to capture memories for you!
