My husband’s grandfather is a expert violinist/fiddler, and we had the honour of attending his CD release party at The Commercial Tavern in Maryhill, Ontario.
The music was fantastic, the crowd was engaging, the energy was high and the food – excellent!

Ten months ago to the day, we had to say goodbye to one very special cat. Ever since he was put down, Dexter has been awfully lonely. My brother started searching online for cats and kittens, and found one in Cambridge. Saturday morning we drove down to go pick him up. Adorable!

While looking for something specific in my grandma’s house a few weeks ago, my dad came across a rare photograph his dad took. On the back was written “1957″, and the photo lab stamp was from Park Photo Service in Cornwall, Ontario. (I wonder if they’re still in business?) I think this is just fantastic. And adding to the excitement of the news that the Queen will be visiting Kitchener in July this year, it just seemed fitting that I share this now. I just hope to capture my own photo of royalty when they roll through the city!

It’s always, always a good day when I get to a nursery! I wasn’t planning on taking many photos, maybe just one or two since this visit was impromptu. But I just couldn’t help it. The colours, textures and compositions were presenting themselves to me every time I turned around. In my bag I had only my 50mm f/1.8. It was all I needed to capture these images. Best lens* ever, baby. *Best is 1.4, which unfortunately I don’t have, so this is the best lens I currently own. :) Welcome to the blogsite for Waterstone Photography. I packed up our Christmas tree on New Year’s Eve. Mocha here seemed to give me the impression she was not happy with the situation, and that perhaps she would be packed up next. Kitty cats are such curious creatures!

The first weekend in May is the annual town-wide garage sale in Mannheim, Ontario. My husband & I spent a little more than an hour wandering the streets, looking for decent sales and things we needed (and perhaps, things we didn’t). On our way back to the car, I found what I really wanted. Unfortunately, I could only assume it was going to be out of our price range.
