Since the beginning of May this year I’ve been studying commercial studio as part of my photography certification. It’s been great, and I’m learning about studio lights, posing and art of operating such equipment.

I’ve always been more of a one-light, natural/dramatic lighting kind of photographer, and for the teacher to introduce two lights and fancy equipment, it threw me for a (little) loop.

Well as it turns out, I love it. I think the results I’ve achieved so far have been awesome, and I can only imagine where I can take my photography creativity to next.

Below are some of the photos I’ve taken in class. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be able to book studio time for anyone interested in “professional” studio portraits. Interested in a free portrait? Email me (waterstonephoto@gmail.com) for details.

Carriage Trade Custom Jewellery

Last week I was contacted by Randall Verrall of Carriage Trade Custom Jewellery. She also happens to be a close friend of mine who designs and creates classy jewellery for any occasion. Each piece is crafted with amazing detail and exceptional care. She gave me the opportunity to expand my portfolio by capturing these images. We had a great time!

Thank you to the models who were so patient with the numerous outfit changes and ordering around! You girls were fantastic to work with :)

And a huge thanks to Melanie & Andy for providing us with a gorgeous place to photograph in! They are the generous and courteous owners of London House Bed & Breakfast, located in Guelph, Ontario.

Elizabeth Gordon, Singer/Songwriter

If you haven’t met Elizabeth Gordon, you are missing out!
She is a warm, kind, honest, loyal, friendly person. I could keep listing characteristics of her, but hopefully you have the idea already that she is just awesome.

Elizabeth is a jazz artist based in Guelph, Ontario. She has an amazing voice that to me sounds cool, calm and collected – just like she is. She is a one-woman show but also plays with the band Vertical Skyline from Kitchener, Ontario.

I was invited to take photos as well as hear her performance at Manhattan’s Bistro in Guelph back in June 2008. It was a great show!

I have ignored this blog for quite some time.

I’m not gone.

I’m just temporarily displaced.

My camera was gathering dust, until last weekend.

The weather started to get really warm, so I went out with two different photography groups.

I took a few shots.

And then I got sick :(

My full-time job is keeping me busy, and I’m traveling and working longer now. (that’s ok)

I need some inspiration.

I’ll get back into regular blogging soon enough.

Summer is almost here :-)

Did anyone else participate in Earth Hour? I did, with a glass of [yellow tail] wine. here it is by candle light.
