Late last night I received a phonecall from my brother who unfortunately was home alone at the time. He was calling because our cat went into cardiac arrest and was meowing painfully, and couldn’t move. I tried keeping him calm, and since this had happened before, I assumed all would be well.
I quickly jumped in my car and met the rest of my family at the emergency vet where they calmly but firmly told us that Spy was in a considerable amount of pain. Either today or in the near future he would have to be put down.
I left my mom and brother in the exam room so I could step out and call my dad who was at work, of course on the late shift this week.
He said he would right over, and that we only had one decision to make.
The vet told us to take as much time as we needed but Spy was in such a miserable state. It hurt me to see him that way… just do it.
A few minutes later after we left the room, the vet returned to us Spy’s cat basket. It was a sad night, but he had been suffering silently for quite some time, and now he was up in Cat Heaven with Midnight, Tiger, Molly, and Midnight. Spy had 11 years with us, and he was “like a brother” to my younger brother. What a good cat! Always so friendly, cuddly and warm.
He will be missed!

:’( Goodbye, Spy. We know you feel happy & healthy now, and you’re probably playing with your friends. Your family down here will miss you terribly still, so watch over them from up there, ok?
